Crissy Waters is a fine art photographer and mixed-media artist based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where she has lived for more than twenty years.

Most of the work comes from the American West. Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and Arizona. Some images stay as photographs of land and wildlife. Others become collage, layered with graphic illustration, paint, and mixed media.

The collage pieces turn familiar Western scenes into something slightly dreamlike: neon against twilight, a pink homestead among poppies and ski fence, moonlight moving through more than one exposure. A neighborhood fox in shadow, Teton ridgeline and alpenglow, the Cowboy Bar sign, the same country, sometimes left as it was, sometimes built into another layer.

Her work is a personal reading of the West: its weather, its landmarks, and the feeling a place leaves behind.
